The internet is abuzz with rumors following Google’s sudden announcement of a special event on Wednesday.

The announcement, first reported by The Verge, will focus on “Search, Maps, and Beyond.”

According to the description from the YouTube livestream link:

“We’re reimagining how people search for, explore and interact with information, making it more natural and intuitive than ever before to find what you need. Join us to learn how we’re opening up greater access to information for people everywhere, through Search, Maps and beyond.”

The invite sent to the Verge further elaborated:

The event will feature how Google is “using the power of AI to reimagine how people search for, explore and interact with information, making it more natural and intuitive than ever before to find what you need”

Interestingly, the event will  be hosted from Paris, and arrives 3 months before the company’s annual developer conference, Google I/O.

Of course, this week’s even may just be a teaser of some of the 20+ AI products Google is rumored to have in store.

Google executives previously indicated that they want to move carefully when releasing AI Chat features. However, this weeks event may allow Google to flex its AI capabilities without reputational risk. If the invitation is any indication, the event will focus on 3 areas with lower reputational risk: AR, translation, and image classification.
